Warming Arctic results in less birds migrating

Researchers have discovered that due to the milder winters the Arctic region has been experiencing of late, less Pacific brants have been migrating south during the colder months.
A study conducted by the US Geological Survey (USGS) found that upwards to 30 percent of Pacific brants, which are a species of sea goose, were staying in Alaska over the winter rather than migrating to Mexico as they used to do. It wasn’t that long ago that it was estimated that over 90 percent of the species headed south for the winter, rather than stay in the Arctic. more »
