More seeds added to “doomsday” fault

The number of seeds being stored in a Norwegian Arctic fault is slated to grow even larger with researchers dashing to preserve 100,000 different varieties of crops from potentially becoming extinct. Cary Fowler, executive director of the Global Crop Diversity Trust says that the seeds will be critical in the protection of our global food supply from massive crop losses that will results due to drastic climate change. He goes on to say that the current crops can’t evolve quickly enough to keep up with global warming in order to survive such things as rising temperatures, drought and new pests.
